The salary Kobbie Mainoo will earn in his new Manchester United contract has been revealed, with a breakthrough over fresh terms now imminent.

Earlier today, David Ornstein of The Athletic broke the news that United are close to striking an agreement with Mainoo and Harry Maguire over new contracts.

The futures of both players has been the subject of intense speculation over the past few months.

Mainoo’s current deal is set to expire in 2027, although United retain the option of extending his stay by an additional 12 months. Talks have been ongoing for a long time, with the club and the player’s camp unable to reach a compromise.

There was also the issue of Mainoo’s uncertain future under now-sacked head coach Ruben Amorim. For reasons best known to him, Amorim simply didn’t fancy Mainoo and failed to utilise him to a level befitting his immense talent, despite United’s midfield struggles.

Mainoo considered leaving United and heading out on loan but has since shelved his plans after receiving a major lifeline under caretaker boss Michael Carrick. The Carrington academy graduate has started all nine games that Carrick has taken charge of.

Meanwhile, Maguire’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season but he also now looks set to stay.

Ornstein noted that Mainoo’s new deal will run until 2031. Now, talkSPORT have revealed how much the 20-year-old stands to earn.

talKSPORT reveal, “Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire are set to sign new contracts at Manchester United, talkSPORT understands.”

“United are closing in on agreements with the duo, who were both called up to the England squad earlier today.”

“Mainoo is set to sign a new deal until 2031, with a basic wage of around £120,000-a-week.”

With talkSPORT previously reporting Mainoo’s wages at £25,000 a week, the midfielder is set for a substantial pay rise.

He and his teammates return to action later this evening when they face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. Kick-off is at 8pm.
