West Bromwich Albion forward Daryl Dike recently suffered yet another injury setback.

According to the Daily Mail, the 25-year-old is set to miss the start of Albion’s Championship campaign after experiencing a thigh injury during training and will be unavailable until at least the international break in September.

The Black Country outfit spent £7 million on Dike in 2022, but have only seen him play 43 times since then, with a string of injuries leaving the striker sidelined for the majority of that period.

After only returning from a year-long absence in February, this news isn’t what anyone involved with the Baggies needed in what many had hoped was going to be a bounce-back campaign for him in 2025/26.

Football League World’s West Bromwich Albion fan pundit, Callum Burgess, believes this could spell the end of Dike’s career at the Hawthorns.

“It's obviously the last thing that Albion fans were hoping to hear,” stated Callum.

“With Daryl Dike having another injury setback after having such a horrid time over his entire Albion career, this is very much feeling like his last chance that he'll have at the club after having such a difficult time and having to go through so many recoveries after so many spells out.

"I think that this will most likely be the final straw when it comes to his Albion future.

“I don't think it'll be a case of him leaving in this transfer window because you're not going to get anything for him. If a player has had about three straight years of just injury after injury, I don't think many clubs will be wanting to take a punt on him until his contract expires at the end of the year.

“So, I do think it'll be a case of he'll look to get to full fitness and see out the year with Albion and try to play as much football as possible, and hopefully he's able to help us reach a respectable position in the Championship, whether that is pushing for the play-offs or not.

“Hopefully, he's able to spend the majority of this year fully fit. But I do think that this is going to be his last year as an Albion player, and unfortunately, it just hasn't worked out.”

After spending so heavily on Dike in 2022, West Brom fans will be endlessly disappointed with what they have received.

When fit, the striker has shown flashes of brilliance, but they have come few and far between due to his constant injury woes.

Albion's medical director, Tony Strudwick, claimed that Dike was "thriving" during pre-season, highlighting the sheer unpredictability attributed to the 25-year-old’s fitness.

The Baggies’ faithful know how good the forward can be, but that is worth little when he can’t stay fit.

Ultimately, it is hard to see West Brom
