Prospective Leeds United arrivals will have a choice of several vacant squad numbers ahead of the new season.
yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk reports that Harry Wilson is expected to join Daniel Farke’s squad as a free agent after a deal was agreed for the former Fulham winger, who registered 10 goals and seven assists last season. Leeds are also pursuing Shea Charles after bids worth north of £20m, while hope remains of persuading free agent Julian Brandt.
Whoever comes in, with Wilson likely first, must pick a number. The No. eight Wilson wore at Craven Cottage is owned by Sean Longstaff, but other options are open.
No. five is free after Pascal Struijk’s £20m move to Brighton, ending two years with that number. No. 12 was worn by loan signing Jaidon Anthony in 2023/24 before his return to Bournemouth, and it has gone unclaimed in the two years since.
No. 13, often a back-up goalkeeper’s choice, was vacated by Kristoffer Klaesson in 2024 and was previously Kiko Casilla’s. No. 16 is available after Illan Meslier left at the end of his contract, with past holders including Yosuke Ideguchi and Toumani Diagouraga.
No. 17 belonged to Largie Ramazani in 2024/25 but is free after his summer loan to Valencia. He could reclaim it if he stays, although that seems unlikely, and it has previously been worn by Helder Costa and Alan Smith. No. 20 was on Jack Harrison’s back for the first half of last season before his January loan to Fiorentina, and he is unlikely to be around next season so it should remain available.
