With the World Cup finished, a late burst of Premier League business could yet deliver several major transfers before kick-off.

Chelsea and Manchester City have each spent over £100m on England midfielders Morgan Rogers and Elliot Anderson. Tottenham have spent over £200m on three recruits. Newcastle lost Victor Munoz to Liverpool and Johan Manzambi to Aston Villa, and Arsenal have largely held fire.

Bradley Barcola is being tipped for a Premier League move as minutes prove scarce at PSG with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia ahead of him. Liverpool and Arsenal are seen as leading the chase for the 23-year-old, whose price rose after a strong World Cup.

Atletico Madrid have been bullish over Julian Alvarez, refusing a sale to domestic rivals, though they could listen from abroad. That would give Arsenal a route, yet the forward appears keen to remain in Spain.

Marcus Rashford’s future is unclear after Barcelona chose £70m Anthony Gordon instead of a permanent deal. United are wary of empowering rivals and, despite links to Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs, the 28-year-old might stay to fight for his place under Michael Carrick.

Newcastle look set to lose captain Bruno Guimaraes after exits for Gordon and Sandro Tonali. Arsenal are viewed as favourites, with Chelsea interest also rumoured.

Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande, 22, is said to be close to a £30m Nottingham Forest switch. Leeds United were linked earlier before Pascal Struijk joined Brighton.
