Michael Edwards was not coy about revealing who the favourite player he has ever signed for Liverpool in his farewell letter back in 2022.
All he said was that he had named his dog after Bobby. There was only one Bobby in the Liverpool team at the time and was that the spectacular Firmino.

The Brazilian had this innate ability to entertain fans and showboat yet at the same time be completely selfless and sacrifice himself to the team.
He was an incredible footballer. And an incredible signing as well. Everyone remembers Firmino now. However, before Liverpool he wasn't a player who was predicted to become world-class.
Firmino made his name in Europe at Hoffenheim, where Edwards and his scouting team spotted him and saw a lot of potential based on the data they had available.
Their numerical and eyewitness analysis proved to be right. Firmino became an overwhelming success at Anfield.
Now Edwards is back at Liverpool and his path could take him back to Hoffenheim to repeat the same trick and sign Liverpool's 'next Firmino.'
Right now, Hoffenheim are hiding a great gem who seems destined to join Liverpool based on his playing style which makes him tailor-made for Arne Slot's current system.
So who are we talking about? Let us introduce you to him...
Bazoumana Toure, you've never heard of him right?
Well, we wouldn't blame you. He's only a teenager and the Ivorian has spent most of his senior career in Sweden playing for Hammarby, which is where Hoffenheim spotted him.
He signed for the German side in January. The first six months were about settling into the pace and rhythm of things. Toure has done that.
Now he's ready to set the Bundesliga alight. He's got two assists in his first four games so far. That's not an insane number but it's the underlying statistics that will alert Edwards and his recruitment teams' attention.
Toure is the fastest player in the Bundesliga with a top speed exceeding 36km/h. He's also completed the most dribbles (11) after the third round of the competition.
And in general he has been Hoffenheim's best player, creating the most chances for his team and ranking among the top 10 wingers for expected assists and goals, too.

He's not a forward like Firmino, but that's good. Liverpool don't need forwards at the moment. They need wingers. After losing Luis Diaz in the summer and Mohamed Salah getting older - Slot will need to add more depth in that department.
Toure is the perfect option. He's quick and he can make an impact in the final third. Crucially, he's left-footed and while he has been playing as a left-winger, he can also be used on the right.
The versatility that he has makes him even more appealing from Liverpool's point of view.
Over the weekend, his side lost 4-1 to Bayern Munich. Even in that game, Toure stood out completing the most dribbles (3), winning the most fouls (3) and the most duels (12) on the pitch.
He's only 19-years-old. The sky is the limit for him. And he will 100% be on Liverpool's radar based on his performances so far.
Perhaps in a year or two, he'll be heading to Anfield.
