FC Bayern appears to be stepping up its activities in the South American transfer market. According to recent reports, the Munich club has set its sights on the next top talent from Brazil—and has already made initial contact.

In recent years, the record champions have repeatedly been accused of paying too little attention to the South American market compared to other top European clubs. However, this perception seems to be changing.

As reported by the Brazilian website FlaBase, FC Bayern is currently monitoring Kaua Pavuna. The 15-year-old attacking midfielder is under contract with Flamengo’s youth academy and is considered one of the greatest talents of his age group in his home country.

According to the report, Bayern Munich scouts were recently in attendance at a friendly match between the Brazilian U15 national team and Chile to get a firsthand look at Pavuna.

Furthermore, the Munich-based club is said to have already held initial talks with the youngster’s advisory team to gather more information about the player.

Of particular interest: According to FlaBase, Pavuna’s parents took advantage of a trip to Europe to visit FC Bayern as well. During their visit, they reportedly familiarized themselves with the club’s facilities and learned about a potential development plan for their son.

Competition from England

However, Bayern is not alone in its interest. Manchester City and Arsenal are also said to be closely following the Brazilian’s development and have already made contact with the player’s camp.

Pavuna currently plays for both Flamengo’s U15 and U16 teams and is primarily deployed as a classic number 10.

In Brazil, the technically gifted attacking player is already being compared to Ronaldinho because of his playing style. Particular praise is given to his exceptional ball control, his creativity in the final third, his vision, and his ability to find solutions under pressure.

It remains to be seen whether FC Bayern will follow through on these efforts in the coming months. One thing is clear, however: The Munich club appears to be further expanding its talent development efforts in South America and wants to position itself early in the race for the most promising young prospects.
