Former Rangers star Gordon Dalziel is sure that the Gers will not part ways with Danny Rohl this summer and believes the German will be backed.

The promise that Rohl had managed to show prior to the top-six split, has just faded since the start of it.

Rangers have lost each of the three games they have played since the split happened and are now out of the Scottish Premiership title race as they stare at finishing third.

Journalist Roger Hannah has criticised Rohl for not being able to implement a discernible style of play at Ibrox and the criticism of the young manager is growing.

While an end-of-the-season post mortem, led by chairman Andrew Cavenagh, is still awaited, Dalziel is of the view that Rangers will not hold their hands up and admit another managerial mistake now.

After the failure of the Russell Martin appointment, Dalziel believes that if the Rangers board sack Roh, it will not reflect well on them.

He is of the opinion that Rohl will stay in post over the course of the summer and be supported to make signings in the summer transfer window.

“Well, they brought in Russell Martin. They don’t want to now put their hands up and say, after just one season, ‘Oh, we’ve have made two bad, bad mistakes'”, Dalziel told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard (1.38.10).

“That is bad leadership, no matter how much money you are putting in, that is bad leadership.

“So, I have got a funny feeling that they will get to the end of the season and I think they will go with him for another year.

“Whether that is right or wrong, time will only tell.

“They will start off the season with him, they will back him, and they will give them every opportunity.

“If there are things behind the scenes that these guys do believe in him then they will look at it longer term.

“That is what these guys do.”

Rohl’s team selection at Celtic at the weekend has come in for criticism and a portion of the Rangers fans now have serious doubts about him remaining in charge.

The German boss though has insisted he remains fully committed to Rangers and is ready to tackle the long-term at Ibrox.
