With a little over two months until the second 2026 transfer window opens, Flamengo are assessing reinforcements. A familiar face could hit the market, Thiago Almada, formerly of Botafogo.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the Argentine is considering leaving Atlético Madrid at the end of the season after limited opportunities, seeking a bigger role. His initial preference is to stay in Europe.
For Atlético, Almada has played 38 games with four goals and two assists. He arrived in July 2025 after the Spanish club paid €21 million, R$ 135 million at the time, to Botafogo.
His Botafogo stint brought him to prominence, as one of the key figures in the club’s 2024 Libertadores and Brasileirão titles. He featured in 26 matches, scoring three and supplying one assist.
Flamengo now turn to their next assignment. They face Vitória at Barradão on Thursday 14 at 21:30 Brasília time, the second leg of the Copa do Brasil fifth phase.
