Thomas Frank: ‘You need to invest if you want to have success’ | OneFootball

Thomas Frank admits that Tottenham will have to invest more if they are to get to the level of their north London rivals Arsenal.

Frank, ahead of the north London derby, suggests a combination of time and investment are what Tottenham need to close the gap on the league leaders.

“I think it’s very evident that every successful club, not for one year, but like not only a dynasty, but over years, let’s say five, six, seven years, to build that, you need a combination of time and do the processes all the time,” he said.

“Depending on where the team comes from, of course. To stay up there is still very difficult.

“And then, of course, you always need investment. In football, you need to invest if you want to have success, you need to invest in players.

“Hopefully you do it cleverly and we want to do it smart, so we don’t invest too much on the wrong players and all that but you need to invest. You need to invest a hundred million, I don’t know, I don’t think we’re close to spending a hundred let me put it that way but let’s see what happens in the future.”

There has been plenty of change at Tottenham recently with long serving chairman Daniel Levy departing in September. The Lewis family have been adamant that they will not sell the club, however, and recently committed £100m of investment into the club.

When asked about the objectives of the Lewis family in the future success of the club, Frank remained optimistic.

“They definitely said that they are all in for the club. They want to be here for the long term and they want to have success,” he said.

“We’ll see what’s happening in the future but I’m confident that they will back us to do everything we can to build a successful club.”
