Tiquinho Soares has ended his contract with Santos and is now a free agent.
According to Diario Do Peixe, Santos received R$3.3 million for his loan to Mirassol, had been paying his full salary, and did not plan on bringing him back.
He missed the start of 2026 with a calf oedema and trained internally. After recovering, he made the bench against São Paulo in the Brasileiro, then was left out of subsequent squads. He later gave up the number nine shirt following Gabigol’s arrival.
He had asked to leave and was willing to forgo almost half of what he was owed, but talks stalled when the board sought more. In February he moved to Mirassol on loan, where he has one goal in 10 matches.
Signed in January 2025 as part of a linked deal with Botafogo that sent defender Jair to the Rio club, he agreed terms through the end of 2027. He registered nine goals and four assists in 43 appearances for Santos.
Francisco Soares, 35, from Sousa in Paraíba, began at Palmeiras das Rocas and also played for Corinthians-AL, América de Natal, Botafogo-PB, Centro Sporting Paraibano, Visão Celeste, Cerâmica, Treze, Veranópolis, Pelotas, Lucena, Nacional, Vitória de Guimarães and Porto in Portugal, Tianjin Teda in China and Olympiacos in Greece before joining Botafogo in 2022.
