Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly offered Argentina international centre-back Cristian Romero to Chelsea.
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club entered this summer expecting to lose their captain.
Spurs have now offered him to the Blues, and he is keen on the move, with his international teammate and Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez playing a big role in his decision.
The Lilywhites are said to have sent a verbal bid to Chelsea for Portuguese winger Pedro Neto.
It is unknown whether both clubs are eyeing a swap deal, but Tottenham are set to lose their captain from the look of things.
Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi has already strengthened his centre-back options with the additions of Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke.
They still have Micky van de Ven, Kevin Danso, Ben Davies and Archie Gray as options in the position.
Losing Romero will not be a huge blow for Tottenham as he wants to leave and adequate preparations have been made for his departure.
It could be a win-win for both parties, especially if the North London club get Neto in return.
Major squad changes are on the cards at Tottenham, with key departures expected following key arrivals.
Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Martin Dubravka and Andy Robertson have also joined the club, while Luka Vuskovic has been sold to Brighton and Hove Albion.
Romero could be the next to leave, and Chelsea will be happy to recruit the services of such a quality and experienced defender as they prepare for life under Xabi Alonso.
