Tottenham Hotspur are expected to go into the weekend's Premier League clash with Manchester United still with Ange Postecoglou in charge.
Pressure has been building on Postecoglou throughout what has been a dreadful season for Spurs, on course to match their worst in 21 years if they remain stuck 14th in the league table.
The last few days have seen Postecoglou's side exit both domestic cup competitions, relinquishing an aggregate lead to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-finals and knocked out of the FA Cup at the fourth round stage by Aston Villa.
Postecoglou's honest and blunt demeanour has earned him plenty of admiration – his latest stand saw the 59-year-old doggedly defend his players amid a catastrophic injury crisis. But there have also been calls for his dismissal regardless, from many fans concerned about the team’'s alarming slide.
After each disappointing result in recent weeks, Spurs have resisted pulling the trigger. He has been given the benefit of the doubt because of the fitness crisis and BBC Sport report that isn't about to change.
There is no expectation at this moment in time that Postecoglou won’t be leading Spurs into the Manchester United game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, with the situation described as 'business as usual' in north London.
Postecoglou appears to be holding on to hope that the imminent return of a handful of injured players will help "reset" things. The end of the Europa League league phase also means Spurs, having finished in the top eight to bypass the knockout play-off round, now have two successive midweeks clear of games.
There is then an additional gap of ten days between Manchester City and Bournemouth games in late February into early March.
