FC Bayern are already looking ahead to the upcoming summer transfer window, with a young defensive talent from Italy increasingly coming into focus. Borussia Dortmund are also in the race for the coveted defensive player.
Honest Ahanor is currently causing quite a stir in Europe. The 18-year-old is under contract with Atalanta Bergamo and has come to the fore with strong performances this season. The flexible defensive player has been able to showcase himself on the big stage, particularly in the Champions League – including in duels with FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund.
According to Turkish transfer expert Ekrem Konur, the youngster has made an impression on both Bundesliga clubs. In addition to Munich and Dortmund, top international clubs such as Arsenal and Real Madrid are also said to be keeping a close eye on the Italian U21 international’s development.
The defender is considered versatile and can play on the left flank as well as in the center of a back three or back five. His combination of tactical training and athleticism makes him a sought-after profile on the transfer market.

Atalanta find themselves in a difficult position in this regard. Internally, Ahanor is actually seen as an important part of their future despite having a contract until 2028. At the same time, the club is known for selling talent for a profit. According to the report, the asking price is currently around 40 to 50 million euros. Bonus payments could even increase the total package to around 60 million euros.
Borussia Dortmund is said to have already initiated concrete steps, with BVB preparing an initial offer that includes a basic transfer fee of 25 million euros plus possible bonus payments. The Westphalians apparently see Ahanor as a long-term development project.
The record champions from Munich are also said to see the defensive player as a potential building block for the future and could also actively enter the race in the coming months. In view of the expensive Upamecano extension and despite Jonathan Tah’s advanced age, it seems rather unlikely that Munich will invest over €40 million for such a young defender.
