Two reasons why Jurgen Klopp will not be the next Real Madrid manager | OneFootball

Real Madrid’s search for a new manager is starting to take a clearer shape, and right now, Jurgen Klopp no longer looks like the leading option. 

This is because a recent update from Jorge Picon points to two key reasons that are slowing down, and possibly ending any serious chances of the German coach taking over at the Bernabeu.

What’s the story?

The first issue is that the former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund manager is still fully involved in his current role within the Red Bull football structure. He has not stepped away or reduced his responsibilities. 

In fact, he was recently in Brazil, closely following the progress of RB Bragantino. 

That level of involvement shows he remains committed to his current project rather than preparing for a quick return to club management.

The second factor is his agreement with a German television network. 

According to the journalist, Klopp is already set to work as an analyst during the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in the United States. 

As things stand, there have been no changes to that plan, and he is expected to travel and be part of the coverage team, which further suggests that he is not planning an immediate return to the dugout.

These two points alone make it clear that Klopp is not in a rush to take on a new club job. 

And for a team like Real Madrid, this pursuit could be over as the club wants clarity and commitment, especially as they aim to get back to winning ways as quickly as possible.

There is more

Apart from all this, there is another angle to consider. 

Within football circles, there is a growing belief that Klopp is targeting the Germany national football team job in the future. 

For now, Julian Nagelsmann remains in charge, but Klopp is thought to be waiting for the right moment rather than jumping into another club role.

Because of all this, Real Madrid are starting to look elsewhere and one name that continues to gain strength is Jose Mourinho. 

Unlike Klopp, the Portuguese manager has shown clear interest in returning and is open to taking the job if the opportunity arises.
