Valencia were routed 4-1 at Balaídos, a defeat that underlined deep structural flaws and, more worryingly, escalated a goalkeeping crisis.
According to Superdeporte, Julen Agirrezabala has now suffered an injury, adding to the absence of Stole Dimitrievski, leaving Carlos Corberán's side stretched in goal ahead of a key spell.
Valencia were second best throughout, lacked control and allowed Celta, in a bright spell, too much space. The scoreline could arguably have been heavier. Agirrezabala, on loan from Athletic Club, struggled and was exposed by a porous back line, though he has been among the few positives this season.
Pain struck after Celta’s third goal, when Agirrezabala felt his hamstring. He tried to continue but was forced off, and midfielder Pepelu finished the match in goal.
Post-match, Corberán said Agirrezabala’s issue was hamstring related and seemed serious. He also noted that at 3-1 the team kept responding and, even with 10 players, felt they might be close to something.
Dimitrievski trained this week but did not complete sessions and did not travel with the squad. His availability for the next game remains unclear.
The calendar is unforgiving. Next up is Elche under Eder Sarabia, one of the form sides, a test that arrives amid mounting pressure and uncertainty.
