Valencia have entered the final stretch of the winter window needing at least a centre-back and a midfielder. According to Superdeporte, defence is the priority after injuries to César Tárrega and Moucyar Diakhaby, though Carlos Corberán also wants muscle in midfield. The club are working on both fronts with less than two weeks remaining.

The signing of Guido Rodríguez is not as advanced as it had appeared. Negotiation sources say serious differences still separate the parties over the West Ham midfielder’s move, with finances again the sticking point under Meriton.

Valencia are in talks with the English club about a loan for the Argentine, but his arrival is not straightforward at this stage. Matteo Moretto previously reported that negotiations were open.

With Guido uncertain, the Aliou Dieng option remains active to reinforce midfield. Valencia are negotiating with the Mali international, who belongs to Al Ahly in Egypt. Sayed Nabawy first reported the interest.

Dieng is out of contract in June and is currently the best placed candidate.
