Valencia have been linked with Egypt goalkeeper Oufa Shobeir as they look for a cost-effective signing, with Aliou Dieng’s deal understood to be in place.

On Time Sport reported a three-year agreement, structured two plus one, between Valencia and Mali midfielder Dieng, whose Al Ahly contract ends on 30 June, and added that emissaries would be at the RCDE Stadium to watch Shobeir, later specifying Valencia as the club. Valencia have since confirmed the Dieng agreement.

The club have already decided the 12 million option to buy Julen Agirrezabala, currently out with a meniscus injury, is unaffordable. Shobeir’s valuation, around one-two million, is far lower than the Athletic Club loanee.

Shobeir, under contract until 2027, has been tracked from Egypt for about a year and has also been offered to Getafe and Almería. Al Ahly acknowledge European interest, including from Valencia. Carlos Corberán’s side also like Antonio Sivera, though Alavés’ price tag complicates a move.

The 26-year-old is noted for sharp reflexes and one-on-one prowess. He has eight caps since November 2024 and started recent friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Spain, excelling in the 0-0 in Barcelona, where the Egyptian press labelled him MVP. After backing up veteran captain El Shenawy at the Africa Cup of Nations, he has displaced him since the third-place match.
