Vasco close international window with R$ 110 million spend and leaner wage bill | OneFootball

Vasco closed the FIFA international window after a major rebuild, investing about R$ 110 million.

According to PaponaColina, the club can still sign domestically until 27 March if targets played in Brazil's state championships, though Renato Gaúcho's core for the Campeonato Brasileiro is considered set.

President Pedrinho's outlay rivals the 777 Partners era, with big fees paid in instalments through 2028 to ease cash flow.

Additions were Johan Rojas on loan from Monterrey, Alan Saldivia from Colo-Colo for R$ 6.3 million, Brenner from Udinese for R$ 30.5 million, and Marino Hinestroza from Atlético Nacional for R$ 26.4 million.

Cuiabano arrived on loan from Nottingham Forest, Claudio Spinelli from Independiente del Valle for R$ 10.5 million, Andrés Gómez permanently from Rennes for R$ 27.5 million, and Carlos Cuesta's loan from Galatasaray was renewed for R$ 9.1 million.

Cost cutting lowered the monthly wage bill from R$ 17.5 million late in 2025 to roughly R$ 15 million, aiding a club in judicial recovery.

There were 19 departures. Contracts for Philippe Coutinho and Jean David were rescinded, while Rayan joined Bournemouth and Vegetti moved to Cerro Porteño on permanent deals. Permanent exits also included Paulinho to Fortaleza, Lucas Oliveira and Victor Luís to Mirassol, Leandrinho to Sharjah FC and Riquelme to Panserraikos.

Loans saw GB join Fortaleza, Lyncon and Estrella join CRB, Juan Sforza join Talleres, Maxime Dominguez join Cracóvia, Ray Breno join Juventude and Garré join Aris Saloniki, while contracts ended for Mauricio Lemos, Paulinho Paula (Internacional) and Allan Victor.
