Vasco’s Copa do Brasil runners-up finish has extended their wait for a national title to 15 years. Their last came on 8 June 2011.
According to Globo.com, Bahia’s 37-year wait since the 1988 Brasileirão is the longest among clubs in the most recent Série A. Guarani top the overall list, their last national trophy was the 1978 Brasileirão.
Vasco do not feature in the top 10 for longest national-title droughts. Among 2025 top-flight sides, Internacional, Juventude, Sport and Santos all have longer waits than the Cruz-Maltino.
Coritiba, Criciúma, Santo André and Paulista also rank high, their most recent national honours came in 1985, 1991, 2004 and 2005 respectively.
More recent national winners include Fluminense in 2012, Grêmio in 2016 and Cruzeiro in 2018. Athletico-PR lifted silverware in 2019, Atlético-MG won the Supercopa in 2022, while Palmeiras and São Paulo ended 2023 with titles.
Botafogo were crowned Brasileirão champions in 2024. In 2025, Corinthians won the Copa do Brasil and Flamengo took the league.
