Vasco have opened negotiations with Udinese to sign striker Brenner and have lodged an opening offer, according to Globo.com.
The São Januário club are aware the Italian side want around 6 million euros, R$ 37.6 million at the current rate, and have told Udinese they cannot, at least for now, meet that figure.
Their first proposal came in below the asking price and was intended to formalise interest after months of monitoring since the end of last year.
The clubs are expected to explore a middle ground, with Udinese not counting on Brenner and Vasco viewing him as their plan A for the attack.
The centre-forward role has become Vasco’s priority in this window. Fernando Diniz is an admirer of Brenner and has recommended him to the football department.
Sporting director Admar Lopes has said the club are in talks with players for that position.
