Lucas Veríssimo has taken part in his first session back at Santos, yet his involvement in Sunday’s clássico remains uncertain.
According to Diario Do Peixe, the centre-back arrived in Brazil on Thursday night and reported to CT Rei Pelé on Friday morning. He underwent assessments before a light pitch workout without contact. Vojvoda’s squad hold their final training on Saturday.
If he is cleared to work with the group and the staff approve, he could be named to face Corinthians on Sunday at 16:00 at Vila Belmiro in the sixth round of the Brasileirão. He is already registered on the CBF’s BID, with fitness the only remaining issue.
Vojvoda also has Luan Peres, Zé Ivaldo, Adonis Frías and João Ananias available at centre-back. Luan Peres and Adonis Frías have formed the starting partnership in recent matches.
After Santos announced his return, it took days for him to reach the Baixada Santista. He had been in Qatar with Al-Duhail, who terminated his contract so he could sign. The country has been affected by the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran, with missiles sent to the area and airport closures.
Because of bureaucracy and cancelled flights, he was only able to report to CT Rei Pelé 10 days after the announcement. He is back for a second spell and has signed until 2028. The deal is an investment of four million euros, with bonuses that could reach five million to the Qatari club, making him one of Santos’ main signings for 2026.
