He underwent tests on Saturday and consulted specialist Moisés Cohen, who recommended an operation. The surgery is scheduled for Wednesday, to be performed by Cohen with Corinthians head of medical Ricardo Galotti observing.

The forward was in physical transition, approaching three months out.

He last featured on 30 April, coming on late in the 2-0 win over Peñarol in the Conmebol Libertadores, then sustained two injuries in succession. He strained the right hip obturator muscle in that match and missed subsequent games.

Further tests identified an injury to the hamstring tendons at the back of the thigh. Those tendons insert at the ischial tuberosity, where he had surgery in 2023 for a similar issue. He recovered quickly from the hip strain, but the tendon problem took longer.

This new setback will extend his absence. The club have not given a recovery timeline. His contract runs until December this year.

It will be his second surgery since arriving in August 2025, after an arthroscopy to repair the right medial meniscus two months later that kept him out for one and a half months.
