Having retired in December, former Tunisia international Wahbi Khazri has returned to the national set-up, joining Sabri Lamouchi’s staff.
L'Équipe reports that Tunisia were knocked out by Mali in the Africa Cup of Nations last 16, drawing 1-1 then losing 3-2 on penalties in early January. In response, Lamouchi was appointed in place of Sami Trabelsi and a new backroom team has been named.
Khazri announced his retirement in early December after more than 15 years as a professional. His club career included spells at Bastia, Bordeaux, Sunderland, Rennes, Saint-Étienne and Montpellier.
He won 74 caps for Tunisia and scored 25 goals. The former forward now returns to the international fold in a non-playing capacity.
Khazri will lead the analysis department within Lamouchi’s staff.
