Was Salah wrong about Harry Kane’s drought? Opta publicly contradicts Salah
Leading football analytics firm Opta has contradicted Mohamed Salah’s post match claim regarding Harry Kane’s scoring drought after the Liverpool star suggested the England captain once went 10 game without a goal.
Salah made the remark during his now viral rant following Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Leeds United arguing that English media treat Kane differently:
“Harry Kane went 10 game without scoring and everyone said he’d come back. With me, they say I should be benched.”
In post on X on Sunday, Opta responded with statistic that directly challenges Salah’s comparison:
“Harry Kane has never played six consecutive league match as starter without scoring either in the Premier League or the Bundesliga.”
The data indicates that the “10 match without scoring” claim made by Salah was statistically inaccurate casting doubt on the example he used to defend himself.
The Egyptian has been benched for three straight league game sparking sharp tension with the media, Liverpool’s hierarchy & manager Arne Slot.
