Nearly two years after scoring his last goal, FC Barcelona loanee Ansu Fati has found the back of the net on his debut for AS Monaco tonight.

The La Masia graduate, who had fallen out of favour at Barça, joined the Ligue 1 club on loan in the summer, but has had to bide his time to make his debut.

Fati had not even been named in the matchday squad for Monaco’s first four Ligue 1 matches, but was included for today’s UEFA Champions League clash against Club Brugge.

Coming on in the 63rd minute for Folarin Balogun, Ansu could not save his team from a defeat as Monaco were hammered 4-1 by the Belgian outfit.

However, the Barcelona loanee did manage to score the only goal for his team, rifling in a powerful left-footed effort from inside the box in stoppage time.

This marks his first goal in a professional football match since November 2023, when he had scored for his previous loan club, Brighton & Hove Albion, against AFC Ajax.

The past few years have been extremely difficult for Ansu, owing to recurring injury and fitness problems.

Now, having scored on his official debut for Monaco, the youngster will hope to kick on and enjoy a productive campaign.
