West Ham have been hit by fresh fitness setbacks before their FA Cup quarter-final at Leeds United.

Nuno Espirito Santo kept specifics under wraps earlier in the week. He said they were working to bring players back as soon as possible, monitoring progress each day and planning a late call.

The starting XI announced on Sunday confirmed ex-Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville’s continued absence, and a number of other first-team players were missing. The Dutchman has not featured since the fifth round because of a calf issue.

Centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo was injured in the warm-up before the recent defeat at Aston Villa and has not returned, failing to make the squad. Konstantinos Mavropanos sustained a head injury while on Greece duty and also missed out.

Those setbacks meant Max Kilman made his first start since mid-February. Aaron Wan-Bissaka was another surprise absentee, so Kyle Walker-Peters began at right-back.

Ahead of kick-off, Espirito Santo said: "We had players that were not available, players that were still recovering, but we are positive in this moment of the season, all players are important." He told TNT Sports.
