West Ham have suffered fresh injury setbacks before their FA Cup quarter-final against Leeds United, with several senior players missing.
"We had players that were not available, players that were still recovering, but we are positive in this moment of the season, all players are important." Nuno Espirito Santo said. He was speaking to TNT Sports.
Earlier in the week, Espirito Santo kept potential absences under wraps, with Crysencio Summerville among the doubts. The winger has not featured since the fifth round because of a calf issue, and he was being assessed day by day with any decision left late.
When the teams were confirmed on Sunday afternoon, Summerville remained out and further first-team absences emerged.
Centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, injured in the warm-up before the recent defeat at Aston Villa, was not in the squad. Konstantinos Mavropanos, who sustained a head injury on international duty with Greece, also missed out.
Those setbacks led to a first start since mid-February for Max Kilman. Aaron Wan-Bissaka was a surprise omission, with Kyle Walker-Peters starting at right-back.
