Mohammed Kudus has been one of the most talked-about names in the market since he closed the season with solid performances for West Ham United. His ability to break lines, receive in space and make a difference in the final their has generated interest from a number of European clubs.

Despite playing in a team that has been far from competing for titles, the Ghanaian has maintained a level that puts him on the agenda of teams looking for attacking talent. In this context, there have been rumours of a possible transfer to Saudi football, something that has become frequent in recent transfer windows.

However, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Kudus has made it clear that he does not want to move to Saudi Arabia this summer. Although his contract with the Hammers runs until 2028 and includes a £75m release clause, sources close to the club believe West Ham would be willing to accept a lower figure. Kudus’ stance goes against the grain of the trend that has seduced many other players. His priority is still to compete in Europe, something that could open the door to teams like Liverpool or Arsenal.

For West Ham, Kudus’ refusal to consider a transfer to the Gulf involves more than just a personal decision. First, it limits the club’s financial leeway in a market where Saudi clubs often offer disproportionate sums. This reduces the potential revenue from a sale and forces the club to consider alternatives with less financial impact.

Secondly, if the player remains adamant in his desire to leave, the club could be pushed to negotiate with other teams for lower amounts than expected. At the same time, there is a different reading: his stance may strengthen West Ham‘s image as a club that harbours players with competitive ambitions.

That could make their squad more attractive to other players who would reject golden exile in exchange for playing time. From a project perspective, keeping Kudus or transferring him to a Champions League club can also influence the external perception of the London club. Instead of giving in to million-dollar offers without sporting demand, West Ham can use this situation to build a more competitive narrative.
