Liverpool are reportedly lining up an exciting Brazilian to replace Mo Salah.
The departure of the Egyptian signals the end of a defining era for the club, and replacing him will be one of the most difficult challenges anyone has ever faced at Anfield when it comes to recruitment.
Salah has been far more than just a world-class player, he has been the heartbeat of Liverpool’s attack for years.
His presence shaped the way the team played, providing a constant outlet, a reliable goal threat, and a player who could constantly deliver key moments and win games single-handedly. Few players in world football have matched his consistency, particularly in the Premier League, where he has delivered elite numbers season after season.
Salah at his prime was up there with the very best in the game - including Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
What makes him especially irreplaceable is not just the volume of his output, but its reliability. Goals and assists became expected with Salah.
Whether it was a quick shift inside onto his left foot, a perfectly timed run in behind, or a composed finish in the penalty area, he offered a complete attacking skillset.
He was never a one-dimensional winger. Salah combined intelligence, movement, and clinical finishing in a way that made him one of the most dangerous forwards in the game.
Replacing a player of that calibre is not simply about finding another goalscorer, it’s about finding the club's next star.
The reality is that Liverpool are simply not going to be able to do that. They are not going to find one superstar with the same level as Salah.
Instead, they are going to have to split his impact in the aggregate. That means Alexander Isak chipping in with more goals, Yan Diomande potentially coming in on the right-wing to bring the pace and threat in that position, and another Brazilian arriving at Anfield as well.
According to Ekrem Konur, with Al Hilal looking to bring in Salah this summer, Marcos Leonardo could be heading the other way to Anfield.
The Brazilian forward who is only 22-years-old has been on Liverpool's radar since his Santos days.
Leonardo made headlines a few years ago when he left Benfica after playing just 550 minutes for the Portuguese side, scoring eight goals and registering one assist in the process.
He averaged a goal or assist every 61 minutes for the Portuguese side and that was enough to earn Leonardo a lucrative move to Al Hilal.
In Saudi Arabia he has 50 goal contributions in 73 games and he caught the eye in the FIFA Club World Cup last summer, where he scored four goals and registered one assist in five games.
Leonardo is a brilliant link-up player, who presses intensely and who has a knack for scoring goals.
If the above is true, this could be an incredible move. The Brazil sensation has everything to help fill Salah's void - alongside the other potential arrivals at Anfield.
