The referee’s report for the red card picked up by Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé on Sunday has been unveiled online.
Frontman Mbappé is for his part of course fresh off an evening to forget.
Afforded a starting berth in Real Madrid’s La Liga meeting with Deportivo Alavés, the Frenchman managed to stay on the pitch for less than 40 minutes.
This came after Mbappé was shown a deserved straight red card.
After an awful challenge on the part of the former Paris Saint-Germain man on Antonio Blanco, a VAR review saw the team of officials left with little choice but to send Mbappé for an early bath.
The 26-year-old is therefore facing up to an incoming spell away from the pitch through suspension.
Amid ongoing debate surrounding the extent of the ban awaiting Mbappé, those of a Blancos persuasion will in turn no doubt be interested to learn of referee César Soto Grado’s post-match report being made public.
The official, as per Mundo Deportivo, had the following to say when it comes to the Real Madrid star’s actions:
“For diving with his foot at the level of an opponent’s shin, while fighting for the ball, using excessive force.”
It is added by MD that:
‘Given the nature of the images, it would be normal for the Frenchman to be banned for two matches, as this is the average level of punishment, and he has no previous expulsions in our league.’
