Manchester United only have a few days left to complete the signing of Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo and avoid an unpleasant situation.

The Red Devils have long reached an agreement with the Cameroonian and his entourage on personal terms. Despite having other proposals on the table, Mbeumo made it abundantly clear that he only has eyes for Man Utd.

Nevertheless, striking an accord with Brentford has been a comprehensively more difficult task, as the two clubs have been engaged in direct talks for more than a month.

United have already seen two bids rejected, as the Bees insist on collecting their original asking price of £70 million.

Man Utd optimistic after launching third bid for Bryan Mbeumo

On Thursday, several reputable sources claimed that Man Utd submitted an improved third bid worth £65m plus £5m for Mbeumo. Many expect Brentford to finally give their consent. And yet, the Community Stadium outfit has yet to reply, as they continue to bide their time, much to United’s dismay.

According to The Athletic journalist Laurie Whitwell, the Reds are itching to put the deal over the line before Ruben Amorim’s squad travels to Chicago for the club’s pre-season US tour.

Man United keen to have Mbeumo available for US tour

As the source explains,  the Portuguese manager is planning to trim the squad for the tour, but he would certainly want to have Mbeumo at his disposal for this particular occasion.

Therefore, INEOS will be looking to sprint to finalise the agreement with Brentford as well as the player’s routine medical tests, and have him available at the manager’s disposal.

Otherwise, the 25-year-old would skip an important part of the team’s tactical and physical preparations for the new campaign, which could return to haunt him when the more serious action begins.
