Why PSG will not pursue Michael Olise this summer

Paris Saint-Germain do not plan to move for Michael Olise in this window despite long-standing interest, according to L'Équipe. The club is unwilling to enter a complex pursuit this summer.

Two years ago PSG made a concrete push to prise the France international from Crystal Palace. He declined and chose Bayern Munich, which he judged the more attractive project.

Since then PSG have become double European champions, and they have significant means this summer. The sale of Gonçalo Ramos to AC Milan and the expected departure of Lee Kang-in to Atlético Madrid will raise more than 100 million euros. Those funds are earmarked for Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche and Leipzig’s Ivorian international Yan Diomandé, while Lucas Digne’s arrival from Aston Villa is considered done.

Paris do not intend to scatter resources. The Olise chase is viewed as a potential nightmare, a draining, drawn-out saga with no guarantees. There is a preference to search for the next Olise rather than pursue Olise himself, and friendly ties with Bayern breed realism, a sale looks unlikely this summer or only for at least 200 million euros.

Wages are another red line. Olise’s salary in Paris is estimated at more than 20 million euros a year, a level the champions are unwilling to revisit as they protect dressing-room balance and avoid the financial fair play pitfalls of the Neymar and Kylian Mbappé era. Entering the race could also signal excess cash to the market, inflating prices for other targets.
