According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves are considering a summer move for 34-year-old right-back James Tavernier, who will leave Rangers when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Tavernier joined Rangers in 2015, has worn the armband for the last eight years and lifted the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and League Cup. He also captained the side to the 2022 Europa League final, losing on penalties to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Renowned for his goals from full-back, he has scored 144 in 563 appearances for the Glasgow club. In a social media post announcing his exit, he said the decision was difficult, that the club has shaped his life, and that he remains focused on finishing the season before seeking a new challenge.
Wolves are assessing a number of options to bolster the squad for next season and view Tavernier as one possibility. They are also keen on fellow free agent Dan Neil, who will leave Sunderland when his deal expires after a loan at Ipswich.
The 24-year-old has captained Sunderland to promotion from the Championship. He is seen as a midfielder who could strengthen Wolves, with Andre and Joao Gomes likely to be sold.
Meanwhile, Wolves are monitoring Torino winger Alieu Njie. The 20-year-old has one goal and one assist in 11 Serie A games this season, with one start, and since his 2024 debut he has 31 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and assisting once.
