ExpressAndStar.com understands that Wolves are considering a summer move for James Tavernier. The 34-year-old right-back is out of contract at Rangers at the end of the season and has announced he will leave after 11 years.
He is viewed as one of several options to strengthen the squad for next season. Rob Edwards has committed to major changes this summer with relegation already confirmed, and Tavernier is a potential addition.
Tavernier has been a key figure at Rangers since 2015, captaining the club for the last eight years. He won the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and League Cup, and led them to the 2022 Europa League final, lost on penalties to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Renowned as a goalscoring full-back, he has 144 goals in 563 Rangers appearances. In a social media post, he called the decision difficult, voiced pride in the armband since 2018, and said he will focus on finishing the season and pushing for the title before a new challenge.
Wolves are also keen on fellow free agent Dan Neil, who will leave Sunderland this summer when his deal expires. The 24-year-old has captained Sunderland to promotion from the Championship and could bolster midfield options, with Andre and Joao Gomes likely to be sold. Meanwhile, Torino winger Alieu Njie, 20, is being monitored, has one goal and one assist in 11 Serie A games this season, and 31 appearances in all competitions since his 2024 debut, with two goals and one assist.
