Wolves have raced through five managers in five years, a relentless churn at Molineux. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the sequence spans 2021 to 2026.

Bruno Lage arrived in June 2021 and delivered a 10th-place finish in his first full season. Wolves then won only eight of 29 league games after the turn of the year, and he left after a 2-0 defeat at West Ham that dropped them into the bottom three with six points from eight matches in 2022/23.

Julen Lopetegui took over in November 2022 with Wolves bottom and steered them to 13th. He departed days before the Manchester United opener the following season, after differences of opinion on certain issues created a rift with the club.

Gary O’Neil was appointed in August 2023 and exited in December 2024 with the side 19th, four points behind fourth-bottom Crystal Palace. His final game was a 2-1 home defeat by Ipswich Town, a fourth straight league loss and the 11th in 16. The season before, he had overseen a 14th-place finish, including wins over Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham, plus an FA Cup quarter-final.

Vitor Pereira, appointed in December 2024, was dismissed in November 2025 after a winless opening 10 Premier League games. A 3-0 loss to Fulham was the eighth defeat and left Wolves bottom. He had signed a new three-year contract in September after a strong end to the previous season, encapsulated by his ‘points then pints’ rallying call.

Rob Edwards arrived from Middlesbrough on a three-and-a-half-year deal in November 2025 and was sacked in June 2026 following relegation. A Wolves fan, the 43-year-old’s dismissal was a surprise, as indications were he had been hired to build a side capable of bringing Wolves back from the Championship next season.
