We all want tomorrow’s final between Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea to he a high-scoring affair. Critical to that is the attacker. Whether midfielder or forward, this is the position that is measured by the most essential of statistics: goals.

For a tournament that’s produced 192 goals so far, only 18 players have two or more. Here’s a very surprising stat: 126 goals (that’s 66% of total) were solitaire scores. Own-goals comprised 9%, and the remaining 25% were scored by those above.

Our two leaders here, Guirassy and Haaland, at least registered 4 contributions each and are thus forgiven. Nearly everyone else also managed to have some impact. But Alexander Sørloth and Leroy Sané both stand out for registering zero impacts while missing chances. A special shout out to Denis Bouanga who had a PK saved in the 98th minute against Espérance.

Most Efficient Impact

No chart to show here, as I had to do some calculations outside of Sofascore. Basically, I added the goals, assists and big changes created, then divided the total number of minutes played by the value. Players needed a minimum value of 2 to be eligible.

Biggest Impact, with Minimum Time

This is the same formulae as above, only I’ve limited the list to exclude any player who played less than 250 minutes. This eliminates the “super subs”.

Hat Tricks

Just one, from Al Ahly’s Wessam Abou Ali. It actually was a perfect hat trick: right foot, left foot and header. Occurred on June 23rd in a 4 – 4 draw against FC Porto. Yeah, that was one hell of a game.
