Wrexham are looking to break the Championship transfer record to complete the signing of highly-rated teenage Sidiki Cherif.
The transfer record for a team from the English second tier was broken as recently as August when Ipswich Town signed Norway international Sindre Walle Egeli for £17.5 million.
However, ambitious Wrexham could beat that if they are able to sign Sidiki Cherif from French side Angers.
According to journalist Pete O'Rourke, the Red Dragons have bid £19 million for the player but they may face some fierce Premier League competition with Crystal Palace also said to be interested.
The 19-year-old Cherif has played 18 games in Ligue 1 for Angers this season, scoring four times including goals against Monaco and Marseille earlier this season.
