Lamine Yamal says he is starting to feel back to his best following his return from injury.
The Spain winger missed the end of the season with his club Barcelona before returning at the World Cup, and helped his nation into the round of 16 with a 3-0 win over Austria on Thursday.
“I’m very happy, above all because of the team’s qualification, which was the most important thing,” Yamal said after the victory. “We all left the hotel thinking that we wanted to go to Dallas and play in the round of 16.
“Little by little I’m starting to feel like myself again, making the runs I need to make, taking on defenders, everything. I’m very happy for the team above all, and for Unai (Simon) as well, and I want to congratulate him too.”
Asked about his fitness, Yamal insisted: “I’m already at 100%. I’m ready to play however much the coach wants. Of course, I still have to keep resting and taking care of myself, but I’m 100%.”
