Very few players can be exempted from criticism as Real Madrid went through an underwhelming 2025-26 season, which, like the previous 2024-25 season, ended without any major trophy being added to the Merengue team’s cabinet. However, there were some players who still had a particularly forgettable year.
One such player was clearly the French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga. He was not an automatic starter for either Xabi Alonso or Alvaro Arbeloa, but he also did not take the best advantage of the opportunities that he was given throughout the season by both of these managers.
The lowest point of the season for the Frenchman came in one of the biggest games for Real Madrid, the UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich. After losing at the Santiago Bernabeu, Los Blancos were pushing for a comeback at the Allianz Arena, but their task became immensely difficult when the French midfielder received two red cards in only a short period of time.
As a result, his future at the Merengue club is highly uncertain, especially as they look to sell some players to make space for new signings. He has also been linked with several notable clubs, but according to MARCA, he is not listening to any offers, and, in accordance with the plan he made at the end of the last season, is looking to return to his best version for Real Madrid.
During the break, the Frenchman took advantage of his holidays to travel to Boston and complete a four-day executive program on the Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports (BEMS) at Harvard Business School. But during this stay in the United States, he followed a rigorous training plan to ensure he returned to his club in the best possible shape.
Eduardo Camavinga understands how important this preseason is going to be, especially as he knows Jose Mourinho selects his starters mainly on merit, and also because a player with his profile would fit in quite well with the Portuguese manager’s playing style. Hopefully, he will be able to regain his best form, and once again become an important player for Real Madrid next season.
