One winger is ready to replace Federico Chiesa at Liverpool this month. The Italian is heavily linked with an exit.
It looks increasingly likely that Federico Chiesa leaves Liverpool in January. He's simply not getting the minutes he hoped for.
Of course, everyone thought he'd leave in the summer. Chiesa got precisely one Premier League start in his debut campaign as Arne Slot preferred just about anyone else.
There was an expectation that he'd move on ahead of this season - but that didn't happen. Instead, Chiesa backed himself to force his way into regular football at Liverpool.
That doesn't look like it's going to happen. He's only started once in the Premier League since the campaign kicked off and that's despite some impressive moments so far this season.
That's led to a series of reports that Chiesa is heading back to Italy this month. Juventus are the most heavily-reported suitor as they seek a return for the winger.
If that does happen, though, then Liverpool will need to find a replacement. The Reds would be very short on forwards, especially after Alexander Isak's injury.
Is Christos Tzolis the option Liverpool are looking for? The one-time Reds trialist is on fire in Belgium, scoring and assisting consistently over the last two seasons.
Still only 23, Tzolis looks ripe for a move to a 'bigger' league - 23 goals and 18 assists across 18 months of football will do that, after all. And he's the kind of versatile forward that Liverpool would want, capable of playing several roles.
Even better, Tzolis has name-dropped Liverpool as a club he would move to.
