Manchester City have confirmed Abdukodir Khusanov has signed a new five-year contract.

Khusanov has significantly enhanced his reputation as one of the best young defenders in Europe after joining Man City in January 2025.

The 22-year-old endured a shaky debut for City, as he struggled in his first Premier League match against Chelsea.

He steadily improved and enjoyed an impressive campaign last season, amassing 37 appearances across all competitions.

Khusanov became a mainstay in the defence during the second half of the season after injuries to Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol, helping his team win the League Cup and FA Cup.

The talented centre-back also represented Uzbekistan at the World Cup 2026. He started all three group games as his country crashed out in the group stages.

City recently announced Phil Foden’s contract extension, with the new deal keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until 2030.

Foden is one of the best talents to come out of the club’s academy. He endured a difficult 2025-26 campaign and missed out on a place in England’s World Cup squad.

City clearly rate him, as evidenced by their decision to hand him a new contract.

The Premier League giants are also expected to confirm new deals for Josko Gvardiol and Jeremy Doku.
