Fresh from a second straight Champions League crown, Paris Saint-Germain are already looking ahead. Having seen off Arsenal in Saturday’s final, they became only the second team in the modern era to retain the trophy, after Real Madrid between 2016 and 2018.

According to Le Progres, Luis Enrique aims to stick largely with his current group. He has said the time will come to talk about three in a row, while stressing the philosophy will not change and that only marginal additions are likely to a very young squad.

Last summer’s big outlays did not deliver as hoped. Ilya Zabarnyi, signed for more than 60 million euros, never nailed down a place, and Lucas Chevalier, a 40 million arrival from Lille, lost his spot during the season.

As a result, Enrique picked the same starting XI in the 2025 and 2026 finals, the only change being in goal as Matvey Safonov replaced Gianluigi Donnarumma, who departed for Manchester City.

Attention now turns to squad management. At 32, Marquinhos featured less and might be tempted to look elsewhere.

Extensions are also on the agenda. Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé are under contract until June 2028 and are in talks with the hierarchy to continue in Paris.

Enrique should soon sign a new deal running to 2030, with his current contract due to expire at the end of next season.
