According to Glorioso 1904, Kerem Akturkoglu, a former Benfica winger, has initiated legal proceedings against supporters who abused him and his family after the Istanbul derby.
In the heated meeting, he converted a penalty at 90+11 to hand Fenerbahçe victory over Besiktas.
Following full time, a torrent of insults and offensive posts targeted him and relatives. Akturkoglu deemed the conduct unacceptable, instructing lawyer Enes Alis. Criminal action is set to follow, with the abuse described as cyberbullying that exceeded free expression and crossed into legally actionable harassment.
The fallout has reignited debate over the line between criticism and protection from personal attacks online. Akturkoglu’s move seeks to underline that respect is compulsory and that public exposure does not legitimise insults or threats.
Valued at 22 million euros, the Türkiye international has been a standout for the Istanbul club this season. For Fenerbahçe he has played 37 official matches, totalling 2,589 minutes, with 12 goals and seven assists.
