The Mail reporting that the Newcastle United board members had the meeting to try and bring the chaos to an end, to convince Alexander Isak to stay at the club for at least this 2025/26 season AND return to group training and Eddie Howe’s matchday squads.

All of the Newcastle United ownership group have been in Newcastle and as well as attending Monday night’s match against Liverpool, a number of them met with Alexander Isak.

Representing the Reuben family’s minority 15% ownership, Jamie Reuben met with Isak. Whilst NUFC board member Jacobo Solis headed up the Saudi Arabi PIF delegation at the meeting with the player.

The Mail say that Newcastle United Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan was at the Liverpool match, though not personally part of the meeting, BUT had given his full backing to the meeting and the efforts to bring Alexander Isak back into the squad as soon as possible.

When Jacobo Solis officially joined the club’s Board of Directors in January 2025, the club explained his background;  ‘Jacobo Solis is Head of Europe Direct Investments in the International Investments Division at PIF. He has been directly involved with Newcastle United since the acquisition of the club by an investment group led by PIF in October 2021.’

The newspaper report says that the intention is for Alexander Isak to commit himself to Newcastle United at least for the remainder of this 2025/26 season, with a new enhanced contract set to be put in place if the Sweden international makes that commitment.

The Mail state that it has always been the club’s preference to keep Alexander Isak and that with only six days to go until the transfer window closes; ‘…they are determined to see him be reintegrated into Eddie Howe’s squad. Sources believe this meeting is a step in the right direction.’
