League One has seen some brilliant goalkeepers grace its division in the past ten years.

The likes of James Trafford, Dean Henderson, David Raya and Nick Pope have all graced the third tier and this year we have seen some top shotstoppers as ever.

Whether you're keeping clean sheets to maintain your team’s place at the top of the league or making vital saves to stave off relegation, a solid goalkeeper is invaluable to any side. With this in mind, at Football League World, we’ve compiled a definitive ranking of the goalkeepers from all 24 EFL League One clubs, from best to worst.

Note: We have taken into account the goalkeeper who has featured most regularly for the club or who is regarded as the ‘number one’.

1 Ryan Allsop

Top of the division and heading the list we have Birmingham City's Ryan Allsop.

The 32-year-old has been an invaluable presence between the sticks since his summer arrival, with 15 clean sheets and just 16 goals conceded in 30 appearances, placing him firmly at the top of the goalkeeping charts.

Chris Davies will undoubtedly view him as the number one heading into next season, and Allsop will be eager to carry his excellent form into the Championship.

2 Josh Keeley

Claiming the silver medal is this season's breakout star, Josh Keeley.

The Leyton Orient goalkeeper has been in superb form during his loan from Tottenham Hotspur, with his statistics placing him right at the top of the rankings. His 9.48 goals prevented is the best in this category among all goalkeepers, while his 14 clean sheets and just 26 goals conceded are highly impressive for a mid-table side.

3 Joel Pereira

In third place, we have one of the stars of Reading's season in Joel Pereira.

The former Manchester United keeper has been superb for the Royals this campaign and the statistics back this up with his save percentage at 74.5% and goals prevented at 4.13.

His contract expires at the club this summer, but the club do have an option to extend it.

Arthur Okonkwo was signed permanently by Wrexham in the summer after a successful loan spell and has continued his form from League Two into the third tier.

A commanding presence at the back for the Red Dragons, the 23-year-old is strong under the high ball and looks like Wrexham's future number-one for years to come.

Sam Tickle emerged from Wigan Athletic's academy last season and has been the club's first-choice goalkeeper for the past two campaigns.

A player with immense potential, his 109 saves and 74.1% save percentage rank him among the top 15% of goalkeepers.

His name is certainly one to watch, with Manchester United having previously been linked with a move for the 23-year-old.

Harry Tyrer has spent this season on loan from Everton at Blackpool and has steadily proved himself as a strong goalkeeper in League One.

Across his 32 appearances, he has conceded just 32 goals, preventing 3.29 goals and keeping 12 clean sheets in the process.

His aim for the rest of the campaign will be to help the Tangerines sneak into the play-offs.

7 Franco Ravizzoli

Wycombe Wanderers' Franco Ravizzoli has been displaced by Will Norris since Mike Dodds' arrival, but when he was in the side, the Argentine goalkeeper was in excellent form.

Part of a team on course for promotion, he was conceding less than a goal per game and averaging 2.3 saves per match with a success rate of 72.1%.

Since his absence, Wycombe have struggled to replicate the form they showed previously, and Ravizzoli will be eager to reclaim his place in the starting XI.

8 Will Mannion

Image de l'article :All 24 EFL League One clubs' goalkeepers ranked from best to worst

Will Mannion has been in and out of Charlton Athletic's side this season, but the Addicks' brilliant recent form has seen the 26-year-old start most games.

The former Cambridge United keeper has kept a clean sheet in almost every other game and he seems firmly set as Nathan Jones' number one for now with Ashley Maynard-Brewe out injured.

Mannion will be focused on helping his side secure promotion, after which he can reassess his options in the summer to determine whether he will continue as the first-choice goalkeeper or move on elsewhere.

Former Grimsby Town goalkeeper Max Crocombe has been one of the highlights of what has been an exceptionally disappointing campaign for Burton Albion.

Despite conceding 48 goals in 36 games, the 31-year-old has managed to make a league-high 120 saves at a percentage of 71.4%.

Burton's new ownership may be focused on building for the future with young players, but this experienced veteran has served them well throughout the 2024-25 season.

10 Ben Killip

Image de l'article :All 24 EFL League One clubs' goalkeepers ranked from best to worst

Ben Killip may have left Barnsley for Portsmouth in January, but he made a strong start to the season with the Tykes.

Since his departure, Barnsley have struggled to establish a regular goalkeeper due to injuries, and their form has collapsed, leaving them adrift of the play-off race.

11 Lee Nicholls

Image de l'article :All 24 EFL League One clubs' goalkeepers ranked from best to worst

Lee Nicholls is one of the keepers with the best pedigree on this list, having been a Championship regular for Huddersfield Town over the past few seasons.

Unfortunately, dropping to League One has seen his standards drop and he hasn't been at the same level as in previous years.

12 Dillon Phillips

Former Charlton goalkeeper Dillon Phillips has had a middling season in goal for Rotherham United.

His clean sheet record has been underwhelming, with just six in 29 games. However, aside from that, he has performed reasonably well, registering a goals-prevented figure of 0.83 and averaging 2.79 saves per 90 minutes, with a save percentage of 69.2%, according to FotMob.

Exeter City goalkeeper Joe Whitworth has spent the season on loan from Crystal Palace.

Despite his diminutive stature, the 21-year-old has far exceeded expectations, with an incredible start to the season that thrust him into the spotlight of League One fans.

Although his form has since settled into more familiar territory, it has still been a strong breakout campaign for the youngster, who will return to Selhurst Park with a full season of first-team experience under his belt.

14 Nathan Baxter

Image de l'article :All 24 EFL League One clubs' goalkeepers ranked from best to worst

Nathan Baxter hasn’t quite hit the heights of his impressive 2023-24 season, with the former Chelsea goalkeeper having to share duties with Luke Southwood at Bolton Wanderers.

However, the 26-year-old has been the stronger of the two, with his 2.86 saves per game at a success rate of 65.2% providing a fair reflection of his campaign.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, his next move will be one to watch as he considers his options beyond the summer.

It was always going to be hard for Lincoln City to replace Lukas Jensen and George Wickens hasn't been able to fill his predecessor's boots.

Wickens' strong assets come in the form of claiming crosses and he has managed 1.31 high claims per game this season. He has also saved two of the three penalties he has faced, but his goals prevented figure of -1.71 somewhat lets him down.

16 Murphy Mahoney

Image de l'article :All 24 EFL League One clubs' goalkeepers ranked from best to worst

Murphy Mahoney has spent the season on loan at Stevenage from Queens Park Rangers, benefiting from the protection of a superb defence for much of the campaign.

With 16 clean sheets and an average of just 0.92 goals conceded per game, he ranks among the league’s top goalkeepers. However, his weaknesses are evident in other areas, with a goals-prevented figure of -3.46 and a save percentage of just 65.6%.

At 23, he is certainly a talent to watch for the future, but there is still room for improvement in his overall game.

Image de l'article :All 24 EFL League One clubs' goalkeepers ranked from best to worst

Corey Addai was outstanding in League Two last season for Crawley Town, preventing 15.83 goals and making 177 saves at an impressive rate of 76.3%.

However, he has struggled to replicate that form in the division above with Stockport County, and his goals prevented figure for the 2024-25 campaign now sits in the negative.

With a solid defence in front of him, the Hatters would have expected more, but his heroics from last season ensure he remains relatively high on this list.

18 Jed Ward

Image de l'article :All 24 EFL League One clubs' goalkeepers ranked from best to worst

Jed Ward came back into the fold at Bristol Rovers late in the winter window when Josh Griffiths was recalled to West Bromwich Albion.

Since then, the 21-year-old has done a decent job and his 1.75 high claims and 3.5 saves per game are both impressive figures.

However, having featured in just 12 games and still being in the early stages of his career, he will need to prove himself further if he is to establish himself as a future star for the Gas.

19 Nathan Bishop

Benji Walker (@benjiwalkerphoto)

Nathan Bishop joined Cambridge United on loan in January after a spell with Wycombe earlier in the season.

For the U's, he has been a solid shot-stopper, averaging 2.93 saves per 90 at a success rate of 66.1%. His high claims have also been strong, with the 25-year-old claiming 1.36 every game.

Returning to Sunderland in the summer, his future would seemingly lie away from the Stadium of Light with Bishop rarely afforded an opportunity at his parent club.

20 Jamal Blackman

Image de l'article :All 24 EFL League One clubs' goalkeepers ranked from best to worst

Jamal Blackman was brought in by Shrewsbury Town to replace Toby Savin, who endured a dreadful start to the campaign.

The former Chelsea academy graduate has had a steady season between the sticks for Salop, though he hasn’t been helped by those in front of him.

In 20 appearances, he has conceded 27 goals, with a goals prevented figure of -1.24 - far from outstanding. However, true to his reputation, he has commanded his penalty area well, with 1.85 high claims per game, ranking him among the top 5% of goalkeepers in this metric.
