Cody Gakpo's Liverpool future is on thin ice at the moment.
The Dutchman had one of his worst-ever seasons for the Anfield outfit last time around with fans wanting him gone.
Under Jurgen Klopp he was one of the Reds' most important players but, since Arne Slot tried to force him into being something he's not, his standing with the fanbase has gone down massively.
That's why all the recent rumours of Tottenham wanting to sign him have been happily accepted by fans with most of them hoping and praying that Richard Hughes and Andoni Iraola let him go.
This obviously hasn't happened yet but, with how well he's doing at the World Cup, he could be adding an extra few million onto his price tag.
And, just in case Gakpo does leave, it seems like Liverpool have already got his replacement lined up.
Andreas Schjelderup is a player who most fans won't have heard of unless they play football manager or know a lot about young European talents.
But, luckily for them, the players that Liverpool usually target always have something about them and Schjelderup is no different.
The Norwegian currently plies his trade for Benfica and has been their starting left-winger for most of the 2025-26 season.
In fact, he's even played both of Norway's games at the World Cup and, while he hasn't scored or assisted yet, his passing has been a sight to behold and, despite only being 22 years old, he's managed to hold his own.
And now, a fresh report from Tutto Mercato Web has shared what the future holds for the attacker.
"He's worth about double that, with Manuel Rui Costa valuing him at around €30 million," they wrote.
"A right-footed left winger capable of alternating goals and assists with a good frequency, he's being monitored by much of Europe.
"In England, for example, Liverpool and Tottenham are following him, in Spain Atlético Madrid is interested, while in Italy, AC Milan and Como are evaluating him.
"The list of interested clubs is set to grow, given his technical ability, especially considering his ID card, which states he turned 22 about three weeks ago."
Much like Gakpo, Schjelderup is a right-footed left-winger who's favourite thing to do is cut in.
However, unlike the Dutchman, he can also ping a ball into the box or even get a shot towards the goal if needed.
Benfica only want around £25 million to prise him away which, for a player who's had 17 goal contributions this season, is fairly impressive.
Two of those goals have even come in the Champions League which proves how ready he is to take the next step.
Liverpool signed Gakpo after an impressive World Cup showing and, if they do the same here and Schjelderup becomes half the player that the Dutchman used to be, he'd be worth every penny.
And, since he's five years younger that Gakpo, he'd be an awful lot cheaper for Liverpool to keep on their books and could grow into an even better player than he already is, which, if we're looking at the players that the Reds have signed recently, is exactly what they should be doing.
