Andreas Pereira celebrates call-up in Palmeiras week: always proud

Announced as a reinforcement for Palmeiras just a week ago, midfielder Andreas Pereira was called up this Friday (5) to defend the Brazilian National Team in the match against Bolivia, on September 9, at the Municipal Stadium of El Alto, near La Paz (BOL), for the last round of the South American Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

The new number 8 of Verdão, who has been called up for the main and youth teams throughout his career, had just left the Football Academy, after the morning training, when he was informed by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) that he had been chosen by coach Carlo Ancelotti to replace striker Kaio Jorge, from Cruzeiro, who was cut due to injury.

“I had arrived at the hotel with my wife and was talking to her when I received a call from Sérgio Dimas (general supervisor of men's teams at CBF). I thought he was contacting me to congratulate me on the transfer to Palmeiras or to welcome me. We started talking and he informed me that I was being called up. For me, it's always a pride to be able to represent Brazil. Continuing to defend the National Team is a joy and a great goal I have,” he commented.

If he takes the field in next Tuesday's (9) match, at the altitude of 4.1 thousand meters of El Alto (BOL), Andreas will become the 112th Verdão player to dispute a match with the Brazil jersey. This century, a total of 15 Palmeiras athletes have already played for the five-time world champion team: goalkeepers Marcos and Weverton, defenders Glauber and Henrique, midfielders Diego Souza, Magrão, Pedrinho and Raphael Veiga and forwards Dudu, Endrick, Estêvão, Gabriel Jesus, Leandro, Rony and Vagner Love.

“It's an incredible feeling. It's already very good to return to Brazil, to be here closer to my family, and now this news comes, I was very happy, my family too. I'm very anxious, it will be the first time I will play at such an altitude, a different experience, and I want to prepare well to do my best,” he highlighted, also remembering the meeting with the Academy's Creation Estêvão. “I'll see him there and we'll definitely have a chat about Palmeiras, about the things that happen here on a daily basis. It will be good to meet him again,” he concluded.
