Andreia Norton close to comeback after right knee injury | OneFootball

Andreia Norton is edging towards a return to the pitch as she continues rehabilitation from a serious right knee injury.

According to Glorioso 1904, the 29-year-old has responded well to recent sessions and the most demanding phase of post-surgery rehab is over. It is expected she may return to official competition before the end of 2025/26.

Benfica’s hierarchy and head coach Ivan Baptista are optimistic about the midfielder’s progress. Internally, her possible return is seen as welcome given the quality and experience she brings. Her absence has been felt in midfield this season, while the team won their most recent match.

Norton’s last appearance was on 11 July 2025, a 2-1 defeat for Portugal against Belgium in the European Championship group stage.

Last season she played 37 games for Benfica, three in the Liga dos Campeões, 21 in the Campeonato Nacional, six in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Supertaça and five in the Taça da Liga. Across 2,519 minutes for the club, she scored eight goals and supplied three assists.
