Ange Postecoglou Newcastle United press conferencehas taken place.
The Nottingham Forest boss speaking to the media on Friday afternoon.
Despite only three weeks in the job Postecoglou already finding himself under a lot of pressure.
No wins in his opening six matches, the new Forest manager had the fans calling for him to be sacked last night, as he picked up a fourth defeat since arriving.
That home defeat in the Europa League having followed an embarrassing loss at the City Ground to Sunderland last weekend.
Ange Postecoglou Newcastle United press conference – 3 October 2025:
“It is a tough game.
“If we can go there and get a result then it would certainly lift everybody, get the belief we can turn our current situation around.
“It is a cracking atmosphere, an exciting fixture too, so I am looking forward to it.”
Ange Postecoglou asked about last night’s Europa League defeat at home to FC Midtjylland:
“It is still pretty raw and fresh but that is the reality of football.
“But we have got a game that we have got to prepare for.
“You have got to review it, we have had the review this morning.
“I gave my feedback to the players and it is really important now that we start preparing for a difficult game on Sunday.”
Ange Postecoglou asked about his job security at Forest only three weeks into the job:
“It is a valid assumption in modern football that there is always a manager that is under pressure.
“That is just part and parcel of what we do but I don’t think that way.
“Put it this way…
“I knew I was getting sacked at Tottenham about three or four months before I did but that didn’t stop me from winning something.
“It doesn’t enter my head.
“My responsibility lies in making sure that this football club progresses and gets to a position where it can challenge for things.
“If I start putting timelines to that, or worry about what is going to happen next week, then I am not performing the role I have been given.
“I just don’t think it is helpful to anyone.
“At the end of the day, I have to concentrate on the environment, the training, the way we play.
“As I said last night, I am still very, very strong in my belief that we are not too far away.”
Ange Postecoglou on what he needs to fix to get Forest back to winning ways:
“We are not dealing with key moments in games very well.
“Certainly, last night we conceded a really poor first goal from a set-piece.
“We have got back into the game and then literally from kick-off they have had a set-piece and we just didn’t deal with it well.
“We are having to chase games a fair bit and while we are creating opportunities we are not being as ruthless as we can be to see out games.
“It is a combination of things that we need to fix.”
Ange Postecoglou asked about changes he has made at Nottingham Forest in the three weeks he has been manager:
“I would be surprised if anyone hasn’t seen a change.
“Results aside…and I know that is the ultimate measure, but there is plenty of evidence that we have changed the fundamentals around how we do stuff.
“We are still in the stage of discovery around players.
“We need time to change things and I would be very surprised if anyone thought it would be an overnight thing.
“As results haven’t followed, there’s always a question mark over whether the change has been a good one or not.
“If I had to pinpoint it… hasn’t been the change in playing style that hasn’t allowed us to win games…it has been the lack of focus in key moments.
“We are letting ourselves down in key areas in football that change football matches.”
Ange Postecoglou on what he has said to the players:
“You have got to be honest with your feedback.
“There is no point in masking over the opportunities we have let slip in the last few games.
“We could been sitting here in a much better position, with a totally different mindset in key moments of games.
“If you accept it, or just hope it is going to change, then I don’t think that is going to work.
“The players know exactly how I feel about it.”
Ange Postecoglou asked whether he wanted to send a message to the Nottingham Forest fans:
“I don’t like sending messages to fans.
“They love their football club and are disappointed with the way things are going.
