Angers desperate to retain Lyon target Himad Abdelli | OneFootball

L’Équipe revealed on Sunday that Olympique Lyonnais are attempting to sign SCO Angers midfielder Himad Abdelli (26), who is currently representing Algeria at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). 

The Algerian was instrumental in keeping Angers in France’s top flight last season, and despite missing the start of the current campaign through injury, he has been influential once again in recent weeks, to the extent that he has attracted the attention of cash-strapped Lyon.

L’Équipe understands that OL are looking to benefit from Abdelli’s contract situation. His current deal with Le Sco expires at the end of the season and so they are hoping to secure him for a fee of around €1m. However, Mohamed Toubache-Ter understands that Angers have no designs on letting their playmaker leave in January, even if that means losing him on a free transfer in the summer. In any case, the touted €1m fee does not meet their valuation.
